Hi Sir,
I have an IPv4/MPLS network consists of purely Cisco routers. I'm deploying Cisco 6PE feature to transport IPv6 traffic between PoP sites across the MPLS backbone.
Do other vendor routers support 6PE? There's possibility that other vendor routers will be introduced to the network as PE routers in the future. What type of integration is required in the future if I turn on 6PE on existing Cisco PE routers now?
Please advise.
Thank you.

Lim,
6PE is indeed supported by many vendors and should be interoperable as it is defined by RFC4798.

Hi Harold,
Noted with thanks.
Has it become a standards? I understand not all RFCs are standards.
Please advise.
Thank you.

Lim,
Some RFCs have an informational status only. RFC4798 is not one of those. I have some customers who have successfully deployed 6PE in a multi vendor scenario. Of course, there is minor differences in the way each vendor implements it but once you are aware of these differences you can deploy accordingly.

Hi Harold,
Once again thanks for the info.
Are you able to tell me what other non-Cisco vendors currently support 6PE?
Thank you.
