Dual WS-X6K-SUP2-2GE with dual WS-F6K-MSFC2

Unanswered Question

My client is currently running Hybrid IOS on their Cat 6509 and since their Cat 6509 has dual SUP2 with dual MSFC2, they have 3 configs in total:-

- 1 x for SW (L2 config)

- 1 x for MSFC1 (L3 config)

- 1 x for MSFC2 (L3 config)

They are currently running HSRP between the 2 x MSFCs using Dual Router Mode (DRM)

They are thinking of upgrading to Native IOS (c6sup22-pk2o3sv-mz.121-27b.E4.bin). After upgraded, can the 6509 stay the same?? Can Native IOS still use DRM?? (i.e. as in, 2 x seperate configs for L3)

Or will the 2 x MSFCs be merged as a single Layer 3?? (something like RPR+).

Cheers,

Hunt

Native IOS A multi-layer switch using Native IOS is always in SRM and has

redundancy configured in one of three ways:

• Stateful switchover (SSO)

Route processor redundancy (RPR)

• Route processor redundancy plus (RPR+)
