HSRP vs GLBP for WCCP redirection

Unanswered Question
Dec 1st, 2008

We're deploying 2 arm design in conjunction with 512 WAE devices. We have also configured WCCP redirection on the edge routers to the 512 WAE and currently deploying the HSRP between these routers. Does anybody happen to know if Cisco recommends using HSRP or GLBP in a case like this?

Thanks..

I have this problem too.

regardless of what type of virtual gateway you have, the client packets will get redirected to the WAEs. The difference in destination mac addresses will not afect the WCCP loading hash or asymetric traffic flows.

Your accelerated CIFS sessions may take a different path than the original client data if you use GLBP but it will not affect operation.

Steve, thanks for your response. we're running the code level 4.0.19 on our wae devices. Are you saying that these WAE devices are totally impervient to assymetric routing?

thanks again
