We currently have remote users using 4.x VPN Client (IPSec) to a PIX 501 firewall in the office.
However we have a new remote machine which ideally needs to connect, and this is a 64 bit Vista machine.
From a bit of reading it seems that AnyConnect is the only thing which will install on Vista 64, but this doesn't support IPSec.
SO - will the PIX allow connections from AnyConnect Client via SSL?

No, here's a link.
Hope that helps.

Unfortunately no; only the ASAs running 8.X code will support AnyConnect clients.
The good news for you is a ASA5505 is only $400, and will have twice as many ports and much more throughput than your PIX501

Unfortunately Anyconnect will only work with ASA running the latest 8.0 or higher. Since the PIX hardware does not come with hardware SSL acceleration, it will not be able to handle the processing of SSL VPN connections. The only option is to get a ASA 5505. Just found one on Amazon that should do the trick for $377: http://www.amazon.com/Asa-5505-Security-Appliance-10/dp/B000O0Z8GC
Hopefully that helps.

I just downloaded this freeware Windows x64 IPsec client, installed it on XP x64 and it works fine with an ASA (non SSL) http://www.shrew.net/?page=download∏=vpn. It should work with the PIX.
