hi;
will be upgrading customer UM unity 4.2 to 7.0. Server is MCS 7825-H2.
I believe this has RAID 1 mirrored drives.
As a failback plan, can I remove the 2nd drive prior to starting upgrade & use it to boot from if the upgrade fails?
If so, is this tac supported?
thanks

I don't know about how official it is as far as support but we do have customers do this all the time as a failback option and I have seen it work out.

thanks.
Is there a doc on the procedures to follow?

Here is the deal. If you are not upgrading the OS, and doing an inplace upgrade from 4.2 to 7.0, then pulling a drive is ok to do.
But if you plan on reloading the OS, you will need another drive. When the platfrom disc goes to load, it is looking for (2) drives to mirror. If only one is available, it will not build the mirror for you.

agree.
ran into exactly that when we did broke up internal drives and went to new OS. Had to redo the whole thing to get the proper raid 1.
in this case, there is no OS upgrade, just the unity upgrade, so should be ok.
thanks
