Is there a way to change CUE to allow USER ID to be numeric only? It seems to force the USER ID to start with a letter.

If the usernames begin with a number in CallManager, you will have to manually create the users in CUE and give them a username beginning with a letter in CUE.
First, you need to create a user in CME.
Eg: ephone 40
username "8739" password 1234 => create a user in CME
mac-address 0014.1C51.F278
button 1:40
Second, synchronize the information between CME and CUE: CUE => Administration => Sychronize Information. Then the CUE asked him whether he wanted to import this new user "8379" from CME. He just followed the prompts and was able to create the user in CUE with the extension ID as the User ID.

This is between CCM and CUE. When you try to import a user with only a numerical ID you get this error.
User Id must contain only letters, numbers, and the characters underscore (_), dot (.) and dash (-). User Id must start with a letter and end with a letter or number.

Hey guys,
The only workaround is to manually add each user in CUE that starts with a letter and assign them their extension.
Import won't work.
But at least CUE will work normally after that lengthy process :).

That isn't a work around but the only way to do it. Hopefully Cisco can make a change with this in future releases.
