I can't seem to turn off bridging or find a config for an autonomous 1250 with IP routing. I'm trying to convert it to lightweight, but without IP routing it's making it difficult to download the image from a TFTP server.

Cisco APs are not layer 3 devices. There is no router mode.
With that said, I can't see why you would need to route on the AP to get basic IP connectivity working. Set an appropriate IP address on the BVI1 interface, assign a default gateway, and you're done. What problems are you running into?

Thank you for your input, I appreciate it. When I try to ping the default gateway, it says that protocol is not supported.

Read this post and take a look at his config...there are a cpuple of commands that will sort this out.
