Solved: AIR-WLC526-K9 Mobility Express Controller

Can the AIR-WLC526-K9 be used for any other access points besides the AIR-LAP521G-A-K9 access points? Does the 526 controller use the LWAPP protocol?

Hi Nolan,

Sadly, the WLC 526 only supports the LAP 521. No other AP Models (like the 1131 or 1242) can be used in this solution. And vice versa the 521 will not work with other WLC Models like the 2106. The WLC 526 does use the LWAPP Protocol :)

Q. Which access point products are included in the Cisco Mobility Express Solution?

A. Two Cisco 500 Series Wireless Express Access Point products are in the Cisco Mobility Express Solution; their part numbers follow:

â€¢ AIR-AP521G-x-K9 (standalone access point)

â€¢ AIR-LAP521G-x-K9 (controller-based access point)

The hardware for these products is the same. The products have different software, but the access points can be converted from standalone mode to the controller-based mode with a simple software upgrade.

It's funny how the WLC 526 uses the LWAPP Protocol but doesn't support LWAPP Access Points besides the LAP 521. That's Cisco for you.

Does AIR-WLC526-K9 Mobility Express Controller supports AIR-LAP1141N AP? Is it posible with Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers and Lightweight Access Points 5.2.193.0 software for AIR-WLC526-K9?
