Hi,
I wish to rename my vlans. I have a 4500 core with 3500 edge devices. the core is VTP server and the edge devices are client.
Of course I would like to do this with out disruption (minimal as possible) but do not think that would happen. I think I have to put all of this in transport mode then make the change but then I have to go to each edge devie and manually make the vlan rename changes.
I am thinking out loud.
Any thoughts or hints and tips?

If you change the vlan name on the VTP server then that should propogate to the vtp clients. No need to use transparent ? mode.

Perhaps I will re-phrase.
I mean vlan id.
example
If I have vlan call VLAN 50
I want to change it to VLAN 75
What would be the procedure or and pitfalls etc

Keep switch in server and client mode dont change .
First create vlan 75 dont remove vlan 50 .
check all the edge switch getting vlan 75. Then change one by one interface with vlan 75 whichever having vlan 50 interface, mean while need to remember svi inteface need to give same subnet ip address in inteface vlan 75 other wise it stop communicating .
After all finishing configuration remove vlan 50 .
