CME 4.0 - DnD Issue

dany.datacraft

I'm using IOS 12.4(9)T7 SP Services.

Phone firmware is 8.0.4(SR2)S (compatible for CME4.0(0).

When DnD is enabled, and I press 'DnD' softkey again, I need to wait about 23-24 seconds before the DND is actually disabled.

Is this a known issue? I tried searching the forum and found a few issues with removing DnD but not quite what I see.

I did a bug search on 'dnd', also can't find anything.

Here's my telephony service config and ephone-template:

Hi Dany,

It looks like you are hitting this bug, have a look;

CSCsg87192 Bug Details

Headline 79x1 phone delay to display system message after deactivate DND

First Found-in Version 8.0(3)

First Fixed-in Version 8.3(0.12), 8.2(1.5)

Symptom:

79x1 (7961 and 7941) with cme 4.0.3 delay around 30 seconds to display system message after user deactivate Do Not Disturb via pressing softkey.

Customer activate DND by pressing the DND softkey and the screen changes to "DND" instead of system message which is fine, however, when customer deactivate it...it takes approximately 30 seconds for the DND to change back to the system message.

Conditions:

The problem is only with SCCP41.8-0-4ES4-0-1S and SCCP11.8-0-4SR1S, and NOT seen on earlier firmware like TERM41.7-0-3-0S. It is not seen on 7940/7960 as well.

Hope this helps!

Rob

Thanks Rob!

The description matches what I'm experiencing. I'll try to downgrade/upgrade the firmware tmr.

Best regards,

Dany

Hi Dany,

You are most welcome my friend! I would look at upgrading rather than downgrading. The 7.x loads were filled with Bugs that may introduce more problems rather than less :)

Hope this helps!

Hi Dany,

I understand that, Call-forwarding no-answer must be set for a phone to use DND to forward calls.

Could you let me know what's the complete command you given.

"call-forward noan........."

This is my query...

Rgds,

Ashish

Hi Ashish,

Call-forwarding no-answer must be set for a phone to use DND to forward calls. No other configuration is necessary for basic DND.

call-forward noan target-number timeout seconds [primary | secondary] [dialplan-pattern]

Example:

Router(config-ephone-dn)# call-forward noan 2513 timeout 45

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/admin/configuration/guide/cmetrans.html#wpxref44614

Hope this helps!

Rob

Hi Ashish,

Rob is right. My problem is resolved by upgrading the firmware to 8.2.2SR4.

Hi Rob,

Thanks for the reply.

I was just wondering about the target number. What this number (e.g. 2513) should be? Can it be any number (proxy number) or the number where we need to forward the call?

What's the use of configuring DND, when we are already forwarding the call?

just pardon me if I am sounding weired..

Rgds,

Ashish

Hi Ashish,

No, these are good questions :) The 2513 is just an example. In most cases this would be some sort of "coverage" number like the Voicemail Pilot# or perhaps an Attendant/back-up person's number.

This reason that DND is different is that the phone that is in DND Mode does not ring like it would with a standard Forward No Answer. This is a nice thing if you are in a meeting or trying to complete an important task without being bothered by a ringing phone.

Hope this helps!

Rob

Rob,

You are just great. I don't have words to express my gratitude but would like to request you to add my name in the list of your fans.

All hats off for you and 5 again.

Ashish
