Raj,

Two options:

1. Remote upgrade of read-write Rom monitor by IOS command "upgrade rommon file tftp://url/ "

2. Copy a upgrade image on Compact flash then use IOS command "upgrade rommon file flash:"

Also, some info on ROMMON from the FAQ.

Q. What is required to upgrade the ROM monitor?

A. The ROM monitor image can be upgraded by downloading new software. The first image in ROM is a read-only image and cannot be erased. The upgrade image is a read-write image that is stored in ROM flash memory as the second image. You can configure the router to boot from either ROM monitor image. To upgrade the ROM monitor in the Cisco 2800 Series, you need to have a ROM monitor image available to copy from a remote server or from the internal compact flash memory. ROM monitor upgrades can be executed only from Cisco IOS Software.

Arul,

Thanks for help, I have upgrade the rommon with the latest, but I am not able to upgrade ios 12.4 15 T5 and upwards.

Is there any known issues with this version on 2800 routers.

Many thanks,

Raj

If it is the same 2851 where you deleted a image and transferred new image. You didnot set the boot path for the new image. Boot path was for old file and u deleted it.

If it is same then in ROMMON mode

boot flash:[filename]

Once booted you set the boot path.So that next time it dinot go to ROMMON mode.

If it is different and u can use either xmodem

ortftpdnld to upgrade .See the following link
