First of all is it possible to create a Cluster with 2 Cisco 4503 Chassis.

[nic teaming]

..|............|...

[4503]-[4503]

..\.........../

..[Router]

I heard about Cluster License/Cluster IOS, and a special Cisco Cable to connect the Chassis. But I didnt find any usefull information on the website.

Costs? Pointers to website/Information?

I'm also not quite sure if its possible to go back to one router in my image.

Hello Oliver,

I've given a quick look at configuration guide there no clustering chapter

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4500/12.2/46sg/configuration/guide/swflink.html

So I think you cannot

There is now VSS for C6500 but it is not available for C4500

there are some cluster options and stack options but they are for smaller platforms: C3750 support stacking with special purpose stackwise cables.

But no stacking for C4500 that has some features to manage supervisor redundancy but not stacking or clustering

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Hi,

I'm confused now, i did just have a look at

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps5023/products_tech_note09186a008011766b.shtml#subtopic1i

But yes, the ios linked there; no cluster chapter and stuff.

Mhh...

Hello Oliver,

you are right and I'm wrong

see

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4500/12.2/46sg/configuration/guide/netasist.html#wp1079213

the chapter is

Configuring the Catalyst 4500 Series Switch with Cisco Network Assistant

Sorry for making you confused

Hope to help

Giuseppe
