Hi All,

Well a story many of you heard many times, wrong person for the job.... I am a software development manager helping out a friend who owns a small business. Anyway we are setting up a small network and DMZ (we have developed some Web Applications for his customers), we have all the server items, software and database items all programed and configured. I have heard Cisco has a small business router and firewall all in one that can handle the DMZ all on one piece of hardware. If so which one is it? and how is configuring it?

Thanks in advance for any help...

Mark

Hello Mark,

Any ASA 55xx series will do this work for you. 5505 and 5510 are the ones that are suitable for SMB. You need a Security Plus License to have a fully functional DMZ. Configuration is so simple that you can run wizards ins gui interface (ASDM) and follow easily, yet just drop a post here if you have difficulties configuring it.

But keep in mind that Cisco firewalls are limited in routing. They can do essential routing to make things work.

*It does not support PBR (Policy Based Routing)

*It does not support serial interfaces (DSL etc)
