Jumbo Frames

Can any one pls tell about jumbo frames?If such frames are there in the networks how they travel throught the ports?Any specail configuration is to be done on that port?

"Jumbo: Jumbo frames are frames that are bigger than the standard Ethernet frame size, which is 1518 bytes (including Layer 2 (L2) header and FCS). The definition of frame size is vendor-dependent, as these are not part of the IEEE standard"

This is excerpt from this doc which explains how to configure jumbo support for catalyst switches -
