Rajiv,

A freshly formatted card will not have any files on the disk. This is normal. You will need to copy an IOS to the flash card. This guide should help you be able to do that.

HTH,

Mark

Thanks Mark,

I am sory but you ignored the fact that the newly formatted flash card with "no" files on it says "0 bytes free".

Also, the tftp transfer will not happen with error "no space" ( which as per the dir output is obvious)".

Let me know if you have any more ideas.

thanks

Sorry I completely missed the fact that there were 0 bytes free. Was the card formatted in the same device you are trying to use it in? What brand CF are you trying to use?

Mark

Thanks Mark,

Now you are on the right track.

The cards are from cisco and they have been formatted on the same 6509E from where i took this output.

I am curious to know whats wrong?

regards

That is strange and have never seen that happen before. Can you try the other Compact flash slot and format it again and see if that works. There is a possibility that the card may have gone bad or is defective.

Mark

Is this a new CF card? It is possible that the card is faulty. Have you tried a different slot or different switch/supervisor to try to format the card?

Mark

Hi,

I am facing the same problem with 4507   6 Sup 6-E 10GE (X2), 1000BaseX (SFP) WS-X45-SUP6-E .

xxxxxxxx#sh bootflash:
-#- --length-- -----date/time------ path

0 bytes available (131436544 bytes used)

Both the files are corrupted and now i want to format the Boot flash and copy IOS.

delete bootflash:/cat4500e-entservices-mz.122-54.SG1.bin

I could neither delete nor format the boot flash ..

the same thing with CF ..

please suggest.

Hi,

Could you give squeez disk0: and check.

Chao

Vishwa

sorry, there is no squeeze for disk0 or 1.

Are you certain the issue is related to the flash module and not a result of the size limitation with TFTP transfers? Try doing the transfer with FTP.
