routing table - all routers IS-IS L1/L2

Unanswered Question

There are two areas area 1 and area 2, all have L1/L2 IS-IS running.

How are the routes outside area 1 going to appear, as i L2 or i *L1 in the routing table of router A and through which interface. Please see picture attached.

Hello Gentian,

even if routers and links are L1/L2 capable the type of adjacency between two routers in different areas can only be L2 because the net-id (the CLNS address) is different.

So RA should see Area2 IP routes as i L2 and via its link to area2 labeled E1.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
