Editing running-config

We have a 871 Router that we are moving to a network at our new location. This means that we must configure the Router with a new Outside static IP address as well as Default gateway, DNS IP addresses.

Is it possible to edit the present configuration with SDM and change the IP address related Firewall, NAT ACLs, etc. or will we have to reset the Router to the Factory Default and reconfigure from scratch?

No you dont have to reset the router to factory default. You can change the parameters you have for new location.

Then use command

copy running-config startup-config

so that when you turn on the router again you have the changed config.

Save a copy of the old and new configuration on a Server, so you reference it whenever needed.
