why we select baud rate 9600 in hyp terminal

Correct Answer by Joseph W. Doherty about 8 years 4 months ago

My guess is, it might have something to do with 9600 once was often the fastest speed many RS-232 interfaces offered. Later RS-232 interfaces offered even faster speeds, but the default on Cisco was left at 9600. On the newer devices that support faster rates, pushing the rate up can considerable reduce the time for XMODEM file transfers.

Usually that's the default speed for most Cisco console ports.
