I have an Active/Standby firewall (ASA 5520), they other day I relaised the active firewall had switched to standby and the standby one active. I was glad the failover worked, but how can I find out why it had rebooted and from accessesing the ASA's remotely how can I find out which one is active and which one is on standby? As I'm wondering if they have switched over again.

Use the command "show crashinfo" and email the output to Cisco to open a TAC case.

To know which one is active and which is standby, use the comand "show failover".
