It doesn't change the IP address. Even though when you configure active/standby you give the standby firewall it's own IP address if the primary firewall fails then the IP address the primary firewall was using ie. your default-gateway, will move across to the standby firewall.

You give the standby firewall it's own ip address for monitoring purposes and also so you can connect to the standby firewall for management purposes.
