Hi Guys,

I have an issue with a missing password on the "ws-svc-cmm-6e1 module"

I have refered to this document

I need some clarification here.

1. What is a "Connect a straight-through cable, not a regular rolled flat cable, to the console port on the motherboard"

I am guessing it is a rj45 straight cable connected to a Rj45 to DB9 connector.

Need confirmation on this.

2. Which port should I connect to ? Is it the one on the far end of the board?

3. Does this module support catos?

4. Can I have Catos on the "WS-SUP32-3E-GB" and ios on the cmm-6E1 module?

Thank you for your replies.

Hello Suresh,

1) normal straight RJ-45 cable

2) from your link

There are two RJ-45 ports on the CMM motherboard. The second one towards the edge or end of the motherboard is the console port.

3) and 4)

it looks like possible to use the module in a chassis in hybrid mode see

see section

Configuring Systems With Supervisor Engine and MSFC Running in Hybrid Mode

In CIPT book says it supported in a hybrid mode chassis.

Hope to help

Thanks Giuseppe,

I managed to rest the password, used a Cat 5 cable connected to a rj45 -DB9 connector to the second port ,the one at the back as you mentioned .

I will try changing the OS to catos.

Thanks again.
