MPLS TE but having EIGRP

Hi,

This will sound little odd to you guys but here is the situation:

We have a client having multiple core sites nation wide connected using leased line: now they have few application located at two different location! and they need to have high-avaibility in network as well as fast switch over to secondary path, now other thing is they are running EIGPR so can help in MPLS TE as EIGRP is currently not support the MPLS TE! obviously MPLS TE is not a enterprise technology! but can i take an advantage of MPLS TE by having modification in network! I just need an opinion or any other ideas!

Hello Devang,

you could consider BFD as an alternative to MPLS TE.

the starting point is the use of a lightweight protocol called BFD= bidirectional forwarding detection.

This protocol can exchange simple messages on subsecond frequencies.

The BFD service can be used by more complex routing protocols to speed up convergence times

If this is not thought enough you need to migrate to OSPF or IS-IS.

OSPF supports some features like auto-mesh.

Actually MPLS TE has not only requirements about the IGP in use, but it can require and usually does an hard job in configuring and deploying the MPLS TE tunnels.

Yes BFD can be good option! what is auto-mesh?
