Static Default Route with Object Tracking and DDR Issue

There is a 1841 router connected through a primary Metro Ethernet Link 4 Mbps to Internet and a backup ISDN Link through a BRI interface. I have configured a default route pointing Fast Ethernet 0/1 (ME Link) which is tracked with an IP SLA (icmp protocol). When the object is down then a second floating static route with AD 254 is entered in routing table and a call is initiated through the BRI interface. When the object comes up the BRI B channels stay active and the call is not terminated. I have configured the idle-timeout to 100 sec.

Can anyone help to investigate the reason for that behavior?

Thanks in advance!

Hello John,

have you defined a dialer-list ?

it helps to define what is the interesting traffic that reset the idle-timeout timer a too broad definition will cause the link to stay up.

If you like you can post the interesting parts of your configuration

Hope to help

You should also consider the line

dialer idle-timeout 100 either

By default, outbound traffic will reset the dialer idle timer. Adding the either keyword causes both inbound and outbound traffic to reset the timer

this explanation is taken from

Maybe it's traffic coming from other side that is resetting the timer.
