Home Lab - Correct IOS

Unanswered Question
Jan 1st, 2009

Hi All,

I have just took the plunge and bought my first home lab, as a part of my CCNA studies.

I managed to get my hands on;

2x 2924 Switches

1x 2520 Router

2x 2501 Router

1x 2514 Router

1x 803 Router

3x Ethernet Transcievers

Plus all asscociated cabling for £165.00.

I am goin to swap one of the the 2924 for a 2950. Hoever, I am just wondering what version of IOS I should have on all this equipment, to get the most out of it all.

I have this problem too.

Definitely a good idea to get a 2950 switch in there. I believe the command line is different on the older switches, and the 2950 command line is what you want to get used to.

Go for a 12.3 IOS on the routers if you can. Should should be able to do pretty much everything except for maybe IPv6.

Excellent, Thanks for the reply guys.

I will be getting my 2950 Switch next week, and then I will look at upgrading my IOS on the Routers.
