Ciscoworks - alert when device backup fails

Unanswered Question
Jan 4th, 2009

Is it possible to have Ciscoworks generate an email when it fails to backup the config of a router or switch?

Where do I go to setup such alerts?

I have this problem too.

It depends on the version of RME. If you have RME 4.1 or higher, you can configure this under RME > Admin > System Preferences > Collection Failure Notification.

Sorry, I missed the "email" part. You can configure each config collection job to send an email on completion, regardless of result. However, the collection failure notification only sends SNMP traps. The traps generated will be from the CISCO-ENCASE-MIB (found under NMSROOT/objects/share/mibs). The specific trap is the ciscoEncaseCollectionFailureEvent.

If you have a general trap management application, perhaps that application can transform the traps into email.
