Hi!
I have the following routers ...
2650 and two 2620s running c2600-i-mz.123-26.bin. THe problem is that when I create a sub-interface the option for encapsulation is not there. If I am not mistaken, the IOS is the most current release for the routers for IP services and is advertised by cisco to work for both routers. Is it not a part of that IOS or is this caused by something else?
Thanks in advance,
Richard

You have the wrong feature set. You need a minimum of IP PLUS to support 802.1q encapsulation - see this link (table 2)
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk389/tk815/technologies_configuration_example09186a00800949fd.shtml
c2600-i-mz.123-26.bin = IP
c2600-is-mz.123-26.bin = IP Plus
Upgrade to IP Plus and the encapsulation command will be available.

Hi Richard, I read your posting and was courious about encapsulation on a sub-interface. I checked one of my routers and I also am unable to configurer encapsulation on this sub-interface but it is available on the primary interface, eager to see what the reason for this is also.

Donald ... see Jon's reply above. It is correct.
