WLC Dhcp error

Hi!

Recently i discover some issues with the h-reap APs. The problem is that the wireless clients cannot get ip address from the local dhcp server.

I found this error that hope it will help to solve this problem.

AP '00:22:0d:47:f1:90'

with static-ip configured as '192.168.137.31' has fallen back to the working DHCP address '192.168.137.91'.

Any ideas?

WLC 4402 v.4.0.217.0

The h-reap 1242aps are connected to a CE520 series PoE.

Thanks in advance

Well the message you are seeing is probably related to this configuration in 4.0 controller code:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/docs/wireless/controller/4.0/configuration/guide/c40lwap.html#wp1105314

This is an expected behavior of the AP. It has been designed to be

helpful in situations wherein an AP may need to fallback to a DHCP IP

address for it to be able to reach the controller. This behavior

prevents the inconvenience of having to take down the AP from the field

and reconfigure it for the AP to be able to connect to the controller

(Situations where wrong Static IP address got accidentally configured or

where the AP needs to go to a MAP / RAP on another subnet to connect to

the controller).

Are you having any issues with the connectivity on the static address?

Hi sschmidt!

i`m sorry for the delay.

First of all, thanks for the info.

And i have no problems with those AP. It was just a moment that the wan link was lost.

Thanks you.

Bye
