Guest Access - WLC2106

WLC2106 + 3 1131LWWAPs + AD

I have a WLC2106, Software 5.0.148.0 and 3 1131 LWWAPs. I want to be able to configure a Guest WLAN on it. We don't have any other cisco devices such as switches and routers. I have tried several methods and gone through the configuration guide of it, but it still won't work. Maybe I have missed something important.

What requirements do I need to be able to set up a guest WLAN with Web Auth, the one that is integrated in the WLC.

I want to have the Guest Wlan in a different subnet, so it's only used for internet access, of course, and an internal DHCP server, if that is possible, so I dont need an external DHCP server. How Can I in the easiest way accomplish this?

Any reply will be greatly appreciated.

I have this problem too.

First you will need to configure the specific wlan:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/docs/wireless/controller/5.0/configuration/guide/c5wlan.html

Within this you enable web authentication:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/docs/wireless/controller/5.0/configuration/guide/c5wlan.html#wp1126583

Further customizations to web authentication are here but for now I'd leave the default pages:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/docs/wireless/controller/5.0/configuration/guide/c5users.html#wp1048609

You will create Guest users:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/docs/wireless/controller/5.0/configuration/guide/c5users.html#wp1048496

and assign them to the guest user wlan with web auth enabled from above.

Since it appears you are doing this from the controller the wlan will exist there but if you were doing this on WCS you would need to make sure the wlan exists on the controller that the guest users will connect through.

Thank you for the quick reply, but I don't seem to have access to the links you've posted. is there another way of getting hold of them?

Thank you

Try going to www.cisco.com > Products and Services > Wireless > Cisco 2100 Series Wireless LAN Controllers > Support Box to the right Configure > Configuration Guides > Cisco Wireless LAN Controller Configuration Guide, Release 5.0

I've got my PICA number from our reseller today. The Guest_Net works just fine now, thank you. But now that it is set up this way, The Guest_users will get the same IP as our LAN net, which is not desirable.

Can I create an internal dhcp server within the WLC and use that to assign IP to our guest_clients? We don't have any L3 switches or internal routing so we can't route different subnets. But is there a way to redirect a different subnet to the same GW that our LAN uses?

Thank you

I've succesfully managed to create and authenticate guest users thanks to those documents you've posted a link to.

Thank you.
