Data and Voice configuration on a switchport

Greeting,

What is the best configuration on the switchport for data and voice. The configuration will for a cat4500. Thank you

In general, you seperate the traffic using VLANs - one VLAN for data, one voice voice. Take a look at the following link for a configuration example.

thanks for replying, I do understand that I need two separate vlans for data and voice. Do I have to spesify the native vlan?, does the port have to a trunk port? Thank you.

If not specified the access vlan will be 1. If it is something different in your environment, you will need to specify it using "switchport access vlan x". You do not need to specifically configure a trunk. In the case of an IP phone the trunk is negotiated automatically.
