Cisco IP Phone as Standalone SIP User Agent

Greetings, i know i may be asking a silly question but am having a hard time clarrifying it.

I know that the 7900 series handsets can be converted to run SIP instead of SCCP but can any of them be configured as standalone entities without being registered with CCM or CCME?

Id like to register one of them as a user agent with our SIP Proxy server for mobile demonstration purposes.

Regards

The only phones that support 3rd party agents are the 79x0/x1/x2/x5 phones.

Hi,

Yes, you can add a SIP phone load to the phone and register to it to a 3rd party.

Much appreciated, do you think it would be possible to take the 3911 handset and register it directly with an external 3rd Party SIP Provider such as AT&T or Voiceflex also?
