snmptrap and Solarwinds

Need help from folks with expertise in Solarwinds Network Performance Monitor

I am running Solarwinds NPM versino 8.1

on windows 2003 Enterprise Server

Service Pack 2. The solarwinds can

monitor my network devices and firewalls

just fine, with one exception:

I enable Solarwinds snmptrap. On my

cisco router, I have the following:

C3640#sh run | i snmp

snmp-server community cciesec RO

snmp-server trap link ietf

snmp-server location Rosewell Area 51, Nevada

snmp-server contact DoD

snmp-server enable traps snmp authentication linkdown linkup coldstart warmstart

snmp-server enable traps tty

snmp-server enable traps hsrp

snmp-server enable traps config

snmp-server enable traps bgp

snmp-server host 192.168.3.10 cciesec

C3640#

When I shutdown the Ethernet interface

on the router with "shut/no shut" command, I can see events in Solarwinds.

via the snmptrap message. However,

when I shutdown the loopback interface

with "shut/no shut", I can see the snmp

trap message get to solarwinds but I am

not seeing the event in Solarwinds event

message. Same thing when my HSRP flaps.

Anyone know why?

Hi,

Just a thought, from 3640 Loopback i/f ip, is the NPM reachable (ex ping)? The packets might be dropped some where.
