I am having error messages on the 3750/48port switch the error messages are displayed below we have changed the switch thinking the problem was on hardware and the stack cable was also changed but the problem is stating that the ports between switch1 and 2 are flapping:

they are running ver12.2

Most of the time this is due to a faulty stackwise cable. Try replacing the stackwise cable. There isn;t much troubleshooting that can be done on a bouncing stackwise cable.

As Roberto previously stated it's usually caused by faulty cables or interfaces however it's weird cause you have replaced switch and cable. Are the screws well tightened?

Check those URL, it may help you.

Thanks chaps the stack cables were replaced and so was the swicthes( only one switch was replaced)

Hello,

Just to let you know we changed both swithes and cable and the problems is still there.

I too am having the asme problem as aaberdeen. Stackwise cables ahve been changed and one of the switches swapped. No change. H/W is c3750-48PS, (C3750-IPBASEK9-M), Version 12.2(35)SE5, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1) Oddly I also have another stack in the building consisting of the same hardware and IOS and it is showing the same problem. I have elevated this to the third level of TAC and am awaiting any outcome of that. I have tried various diagnostics and debug options to no avail so far.

We have found you can't just finger tight the cables but you have to use a screwdriver on them to get them tight . Do not really crank down on them with a screwdriver though , you will know when they are tight.

These messages dont cause any problems to your network its very annoying/worrying that your log buffered transmits them very so often.

Not too long ago cisco may have accidentally shipped out some faulty Stackwise cable worldwide.and these faulty ones are still in circulation. But this has been rectified with new ones. Best way round this get a fresh stack-cable from cisco(you should be able to get via cisco TAC/logistics).change switches 1 and 2 respectively.

This should definatly fix the problem
