I am trying to find out whether there should be message wating indication when the primary unity server and Mailstore are unavailable. The secondary unity takes the message. The user hears "the message server is offline"

should the secondary Unity server be sending MWI during the outage?

Thanks

Mike,

You will not have MWI when the primary server and the mail store are down.

This link should have exactly what you're looking for in different scenarios:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/unity/5x/failover/guide/ex/5xcufgeappc.html#wp1130109

The Exchange Server That Has the Cisco Unity Messaging System Mailbox and the Primary Server Simultaneously Crash, Then Are Reconnected

In testing, this scenario was simulated by turning off power to the Exchange server and to the primary server at the same time. The Exchange server was installed on a computer other than the Cisco Unity servers.

Disconnection Behavior

There is the following disconnection behavior:

•The secondary server answers all calls.

•All subscribers hear the Unity Messaging Repository (UMR) conversation when they log on to Cisco Unity.

•External callers can leave messages for subscribers. The new messages are stored in the UnityMTA folder on the secondary server.

•Subscribers homed on a different Cisco Unity server can leave messages for subscribers on another Cisco Unity server by calling the Cisco Unity server. The new messages are stored in the UnityMTA folder on the secondary server.

•Subscribers can call the Cisco Unity server and listen to their new messages stored in the UnityMTA folder on the secondary server. Messages stored on the Exchange server before the network outage are not available.

•MWIs, event notification, and message notification are not handled.

yes, you shouldn't have any problems, the secondary server should provide MWI.

Check the permissions and the integration.

I've had issues with the same message and it was due to a permission issue.

you are in UMR mode and there will not be MWI in UMR

Can you tell me which server is active. The secondary might not be.

This is not a situation that failsover.

Unity only can not talk to exchange.

Randy,

The off box Exchange mailstore was down as well as the Primary unity. The secondary unity was up and taking calls via UMR.

Thanks for your responses
