WS-C2960-48TT-L has 2 1000BaseTX or 1000BASE-T ports?

As I know this standards are different, and 1000BaseTX need a CAT6E cable to operate.

show run says that:

Gi0/2 notconnect 1 auto auto 10/100/1000BaseTX

but here:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps5718/ps6406/product_data_sheet0900aecd80322c0c.html

is said that "1000BASE-T ports: RJ-45 connectors, 4-pair Category 5 UTP cabling"

Where is the truth?

Gig will run fine on cat5E cable and probably most cases on cat 5 .

Hi,

The ports in question are 1000BASE-T ports as the document corretly specifies (ie. compliant to IEEE 802.3ab specification). The 1000BASE-TX standard (as prepared by ANSI/TIA/EIA not IEEE) has never reached the extent as expected and is currently rather dormant in my view. I believe that Cisco is aware that there are 2 different standards. My understanding is that when a port displays 10/100/1000BaseTX (and this is not specific to WS-C2960-48TT-L box) it actually means that it is compliant to 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX and 1000BASE-T compatible devices.

Best regards,

Antonin
