switch from SP to RP online

I am running a with sup 720 on 6509.When I log in via console it takes me to the switch prcoessor console instead of the RP.Is it possible to switch to RP while the box is in prodcution .If so do let me know

Not really sure what you mean though by going to the switch console, the 720 is not a hybrid box so when you console in you are in the RP if the box is loaded and working.

Thats what I am trying to tell .when I log in it takes me to the SP# prompt.I need to go in to RP...the Box has got valid IOS

Is this the kind of prompt you are seeing?

That means someone consoled in and remote login switch from RP and never ended the session. Because by default if you are running Native IOS you should have consoled into RP.

Try the folloing to end the session from SP:

Type "^C^C^C" >>> that's ctrl+c 3 times

xxxx-sp#

Terminate remote login session? [confirm]

[Connection to Switch closed by local host]

xxxx#

Also, do a show ver on SP and see if you are actually in SP and not just host name is "xxxx-SP". Do you see this >> ROM: System Bootstrap, Version 8.5(2)?

if you see something like:

ROM: System Bootstrap, Version 12.2(17r)S4, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

Then you are already in RP.
