Unity Connection 7 Automation Tools (AXL?)

Are there any automation tools available for Unity Connection 7 like there is with CUCM, i.e. AXL?

I'd like to be able to automatically update either voicemail boxes or system contacts.

I've read, searched, rolled the dice...but can't find anything.

Even if I can add the data through the commandline interface. That might be doable as long as I have a reference guide.

like Unity you can use ODBC connections to Unity Connection to do basic provisioning functionality. With Connection you have to jump through a couple extra hoops to turn the ODBC proxy service on and assign an account for authentication to use the proxy, but once you set that up it's pretty straight forward.

There are plans for an HTTP based interface as well but I'm not sure where those are at - as such all my tools for Connection are built around the ODBC proxy.

I should note that as with Unity use of such provisioning interfaces is not supported by TAC or the BU - but of course lots of sites do this today with Unity - just have to mention that.

You'll need the Informix ODBC drivers to get started:

and the next place to look is probably the CUDLI (Connection's data explorer) that has a full data dictionary built into it so you can explore the tables, views and stored procs along with explanations for what they are and what the values mean:

Basic provisioning (Creating/deleting users) is very straight forward - editing some items can be a bit tricky but feel free to ask out here on the forum and one of us will try and help you out.

Not that I've used - the ODBC drivers I offer for download are just a handfull of binaries I pulled out of their Connect package (which is huge and largely unnecessary) - I believe they offer versions of this Informix Connect package for verious platforms here:

http://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/download/search.jsp?rs=ifxic

I think you have to register for download but it should be free (let me know if that's not the case).

I can't vouch for the use of the ODBC drivers on anything other than Windows - as a side note their .NET specific DB drivers are to be avoided - going with old-school ODBC construction worked much better.

Great, thanks. I'm new to this, are there Informix ODBC drivers for unix? Our programmers like to do a lot of the automation on unix boxes.

Wonderful. I'm sure our developers will be able to find their way through that stuff.

Thanks again.
