cisco 2651XM router:

when copying to and from flash with tftp, is it possible to do a global copy of everything in one command, or do you have to copy each file one by one?

I have this problem too.

Tony,

I know of a way to copy many files to a router without copying files individually, but not the other way around. If you have many files to copy to the router I will create a tar archive, and extract the archive during the TFTP transfer. Here's how to do it using TFTP.

archive tar /xtract tftp://1.2.3.4/my-archive.tar flash:

Replace 1.2.3.4 with your TFTP server address

and my-archive.tar with the name of the archive.

I don't know of an effective and quick way to copy multiple files to a TFTP server from a router.

HTH,

Mark

thanks very much for your response Mark, that's a great idea and using a tar file I've now succeeded in copying a whole raft if files to the flash all in one go.
