GRE Tunnel and Multicast

Hey folks. When you have a multicast server (RP) at network A, and create a GRE tunnel from network B to network A to bring multicast to network B. Can you create another tunnel from network C to network B and therefore bring multicast to network C, even though the RP is at network A? Or will a tunnel need to be created from network C to network A?

Thanks!

Hello John,

as long as you satisfy the requirements:

a)a complete topology of PIM enabled links

b) the RPF for the multicast traffic source check is passed

So you can have one tunnel from Network A to Network B and one tunnel from Network B to Network C

Hope to help

Giuseppe
