We have a gig link from Verizon. two sides are 15 miles away. Today, one side shows up/up the other down/down.
Why is that? what kind of connection is this?
Thanks,
Han

Hello Han,
there is L2 transport service in the middle so one side can be up/up while the other is down/down
Metro Ethernet or EoMPLS or VPLS
you should use an IP routing protocol to detect the remote site failure
Hope to help

Failure on (customer's) 2nd layer most likely
