I'd suggest using cable bundling and then just moving the static IP's from the bundle on the old cmts to the new one.

as we have different line cards on cmts we move customers from one card to another,,, we are not moving all the customers from one cmts to anotehr.. we do this when we have issues with cards..on cmts...

How do you have your IP assignment set up on the CMTS, is it per interface or is it set up via bundling?
