You can configure pseudowire redundancy by configuring two pseudowires for an ATM or CEM interface: a primary pseudowire and a backup (standby) pseudowire. If the primary pseudowire goes down, the router uses the backup pseudowire in its place. When the primary pseudowire comes back up, the backup pseudowire is brought down and the router resumes using the primary.

For the further assistance following URL may help you

Thanks Didya.

As aditional information do you know what is the limit of pseudowires you can configure in an 12000 and an 7600 router? I am going to use these machines as PE routers and I am going to mix L3 VPNS with L2 Pseudowires.

Hello Pedro,

both for L3 MPLS VPN and xconnect you need at least one access link, a Vlan subif typically or a whole port.

So the PE / L2 PE is limited by IDB table size limit that depends on supervisor and IOS image.

For both images you should be able to build 4000

see for IDB limits

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/iosswrel/ps1835/products_tech_note09186a0080094322.shtml

but VRF limit is 1024 on C7600

MPLS in hardware to enable use of Layer 3 VPNs and EoMPLS tunneling; up to 1024 Virtual Route Forwarding (VRF) routes with a total of up to 256,000 routes per system

see

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps368/product_data_sheet0900aecd8057f3b6.html

12000 should scale more in terms of VRFs

Hope to help

Giuseppe
