Thank you in advance

CEF 720 modules are not supported in slots 1 - 6.

CEF 256 modules are supported in slots 1 - 6. So Table 4 and 5 contain modules that are supported in slots 1 - 6.

Edit - have a look at Table 2. It states CEF 256 modules are supported in any slot.

Apologies for the confusion.

Slots 9 - 13 on the 6513 chassis provide dual connections to the switch fabric. So generally speaking any 6500 CEF 720 interface modules cannot be placed in slots 1 - 6 as they need dual connections although note there are exceptions such as the WS-X6724-SFP module which only has a single 20Gbps connection to the switch fabric and can therefore go in any slot.

Hi Jon,

Thank you for the reply. So apart from WS-X6724-SFP , are there any toehr 10/100/1000 Ethernet modules that can go in 1->6?

Thnak you

Yes, most of them. See this attached link, you need to look at Table 4 and Table 5. Any module in these tables will go into any slot in the 6513 chassis -

Jon, Thanks again.

I have this link. So...

Table 4. Cisco Express Forwarding 256 10/100 and 10/100/1000 Modules

Per your first reply CEF modules will NOT support (in 1-->6).

Table 5. Classic 10/100 and 10/100/1000 Modules :anything goes in anywhere. is that correct..?

Thank you
