Hi
Anybody has tried ugprading CUCM 6.01 to 6.12 with Raid 5 hard disk configuration. Before upgrade remove pair of hard disks and if after upgrade, things does not work properly, reboot the publisher with old pair of disks. It used to work fine with CCM 4.1 but never tried with CUCM 6.X.
Any thoughts on it would be grate to roll back incase problem with db in CUCM 6.X.
Cheers

Hi Ikram,
This capability is available by default in CUCM 5.x and above without the need to remove any drives. This feature is one of the best parts of the newer CUCM versions.
In the Linux appliance versions, when you do an upgrade, the server installs the upgraded software into the inactive partition. After your upgrade , you can then choose to switch to the new partion which contains your upgrade or the server can automatically switch over for you if you select the option during your upgrade.
This new method gives you an easy "rollback" if there were any issues with the upgrade.
Facilitating rapid, streamlined upgrades: A dual-partition mechanism within the appliance allows administrators to perform software upgrades on an inactive standby disk partition while preserving the current active version of the Cisco Unified Communications Manager software. An upgrade to the new release or reversion to the old release are both accomplished with just a fast reboot with a version switch, significantly reducing the time and risk typically associated with upgrades.
Hope this helps!

I guess you meant "RAID 1" (mirror) instead or "RAID 5"?
As mentioned by Rob, in CCM 4.x, unplug one of the RAID1 disk is a frequently used fallback strategy. (you cannot use this on RAID 5 though).
On CUCM 5.0 or above, you don't have to unplug anything.
CUCM keeps two partitions on the logical drive. Whenever you want to go back to the previous version, you just type "utils system switch-version".
