XENPAK-10G-LR does not switch off the laser

Hi.

We have a problem with the XENPAK-10G-LR that doesn't switch off the lasser in shutdown state, installed in 6509 with WS-X6704-10GE. The other side of the connection doesn't detects the shut.

I have checked that the X2-10G-LR disables the light, then the other side see the interface as down/down.

What is the cause?

Any method for disable the laser?

We have a LR Xenpak that does the same thing. What was done to fix your problem?

What IOS release are you running?

Have you checked the release notes to see if this issue has been identified?

Hi.

We have had the same problem in 7600 (12.2SR) and 6500 (12.2SX).

I checked the realase notes and field notices, without results.

As a workaround, you can activate 'ethernet oam' to check that link is really up (if the other box supports it).

I guess you will have to report it as a bug so that it can be fixed in a future release.
