Hi

I have a Catalyst 6509 but I do not know if it is a Cisco Catalyst 6509-E or Catalyst 6509-NEB or Catalyst 6509-NEB-A or Catalyst 6509-V-E

In the chassis is writen catalyst 6500 Series.

How do I know the chassis model??

I did show ver and it shows

cisco WS-C6509 (R5000) processor (revision 2.0) with 114688K/16384K bytes of memory.

Processor board ID SCA044304FF

Thanks

How can i know wich model of chassis I have

From the output specified it appears that you have a standard 6509 chassis.

If its a IOS only box do a "show idprom chassis" command.

Thanks

but the command show idprom chassis does not apply

I found

show idprom:

all selects all FRU-types

backplane specify backplane

clock specify clock

earl specify earl

fan-tray specify fan-tray

interface interface name

module specify module

power-supply specify power-supply

rp specify RP (MSFC)

supervisor specify supervisor

vdb specify vdb

vtt specify VTT

#show idprom backplane

IDPROM for backplane #0

(FRU is 'Catalyst 6500 9-slot backplane')

OEM String = 'Cisco Systems'

Product Number = 'WS-C6509'

Serial Number = 'SCA044304FF'

Manufacturing Assembly Number = '73-3438-03'

Manufacturing Assembly Revision = 'B0'

Hardware Revision = 2.0

Current supplied (+) or consumed (-) = -

So i think is a Catalyst 6509 Switch

Am I rigth?

thanks

On top of Glen's suggestion a "show inventory" will also display the type of chassis.

HTH,

Mark

My bad show idprom chassis is for 4500's , cisco wouldn't want to keep it the same for all models that would make too much sense. Use the show idprom backplane , that is the chassis type you are dealing with .

IDPROM for backplane #0

(FRU is 'Catalyst 6500 9-slot backplane')

OEM String = 'Cisco Systems'

Product Number = 'WS-C6509-E'

Serial Number = 'XXXXXXXXXXXXX'

Manufacturing Assembly Number = '73-9221-03'

Manufacturing Assembly Revision = 'A0'

Hardware Revision = 1.1

Current supplied (+) or consumed (-) = -

Salut

"show inventory" does not work on my switch

so i did

"show idprom backplane" and this gave:

..

Product Number = 'WS-C6509'

..

Thanks

From the output specified it appears that you have a standard 6509 chassis.
