To be honest off the top of my head i'm not sure but i have just tested on a 3550 as this is the only switch i have access to and

1) all the vlan interfaces use the same mac-address

2) all the physical ports have different mac-addresses

Simplest way to check, assuming you have access to 4500 is "sh interface"

Jon

Thanks.....So each physical port has its own MAC-Address.....do you know what command I can use to get those addresses using CATOS..... show port ???

Mike

Mike

"So each physical port has its own MAC-Address" - well it does on a 3550.

Try "sh port mac-address" on your switch.

Jon

Nope that is not an option.

Sorry, took that from a 6500 command reference. What version of CatOS are you running on the the 4500 ?

Jon

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you...and thanks for your help.

I am running cat4000-k8.8-1-1.bin

I have been trying to find a command that would yeild that information so any help would be great.

Mike

I found it....

When you do a show mod it gives the information as follows

Mod MAC-Address(es) Hw Fw Sw

--- -------------------------------------- ------ ---------- -----------------

1 00-0e-38-8c-0b-40 to 00-0e-38-8c-0b-7f 6.0 6.1(5) 8.1(1)

2 00-0d-29-db-d1-a0 to 00-0d-29-db-d1-cf 1.1

3 00-02-fd-55-a7-20 to 00-02-fd-55-a7-4f 2.3

4 00-07-eb-a1-1c-30 to 00-07-eb-a1-1c-5f 3.0

5 00-b0-64-64-f0-60 to 00-b0-64-64-f0-8f 2.3

I can then get the info from that.

Thanks,

Mike
