Setup is CM4.2 with 3845VG and currently around 500 phones deployed using PoE.
We've noticed that in the last two weeks we are experiencing a few phones that appear to hang.
The symptoms are:
Phone remains powered on and network switchport continues to work
Telephone rings but one cannot answer, there is no sound etc.
Cannot make calls, when you lift the handset it shows the offhook handset icon but there is no line.
The only way to resolve is via a soft reset, but we'd like to understand what might be happening as slowly more phones are being effected.
No changes have been made to the setup recently, phone firmware is SCCP 8-0-9
Perhaps someone has come across this before.
Thanks

What is the version/build of the CallManager? Please include any service release and or engineering special installed.
Is this an issue with a particular phone or a particular switch port?

CM 4.2(3), engineering special CSCsb42763 (Hunt Lines).
This has happened so far on around 15 phones to date, all 7940G using the same release. Not isolated to a specific switchport or switch, and the port configuration are the same for all phones.
I can't seem to identify a specific pattern/reason when it happens.

Hi,
which FW on the 7940 ? The same issue with CNe is fixed using 7.023T that is kind of special release found in CMe distrib. Starnge but it's so.

Firmware 8.0(9) on the phones.
