Hi
When I must use MTP? I always configure transconding and conference, but MTP not!
Thanks

Supplementary Services
Supplementary services provide user functions such as hold, transfer, and conferencing. These are considered fundamental requirements of any voice installation. Each gateway evaluated for use in an IP telephony network should provide support for supplementary services natively, without the use of a software media termination point (MTP).

MTP also comes into effect with gateways. A lot of SIP signaling depends on whether or not media has been established, and an MTP changes when the media is sent. This is one of the reasons why MTPs were required for SIP trunks in CCM 3/4.
Some H323 applications will only work properly if the call is 'fast start', and can be gateway dependent. In order to do outbound fast start, it is required to have an MTP.
