I am configuring an ISDN E1 PRI Connection

(1/2 Port Channelized T1/E1 PRI Network Module)

When I configure the E1 controller example add the framing and pri-group timelots in the E1 controller. The voice port {voice-port 1/0:15 in my case}is not created for me to point my pots dial-peers.when I do a show voice port summary its not shown but when i do a show ip interface brief serial 1/0:15 is up. The conclusion is its not creating the voice port after I have entered the pri-group timeslots command. Please help. Thanks

Hi,

It is possible that PVDMs are not installed. So, with the command suggested by Nick will show us if this is the problem.

Best regards,

- Adrián.

Yes, as expected you do not have any DSPs.

If you don't have the PVDM2-X parts, you will not be able to run your voice PRI.

Check out this DSP calculator for details:

http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/Support/DSP/cisco_prodsel.pl

My guess is that you'll need a PVDM2-32 or higher for this to work.

The 'show diag' does not show any DSPs. They are enabled by default, and you can check their status with commands like 'show voice dsp detail' and 'show voice dsp group all'.

If you're not on a voice image, they may not show up.

You can check your feature set against this document:

Can you send 'show diag' and 'show version'

• Supports PRI for data, T1-CAS, and E1-CAS R2 signaling

This isn't a voice PRI capable card.

I wouldn't go with the NM-HDV, they use an older model DSP.

I would stick with straight PVMD2-X and VWIC-T1 cards.

Yes, it's a standard card with full feature support.

Thanks both of you for your exceptional response I will get backed to you about it ASAP.

Have a great day guys.

What command must I use to enable the DSPs as Im shore they have been installed but just need to be enabled.

Understood Thanks so much Nick.

There clearly are DSPs installed in the voice gateway PVDM-32 notice there a 2 groups of 16 DSP channels in my show voice dsp voice command output and when I reload the router it showing that they are comming up.

Also when I issued the pri-group time-slots command if there where no DSPs it would mention an error informing me how many DSPs are needed for the pri channels this is not happening its taking the command and showing the channels being created in the show ip int brief command but no voice-port 1/0:15 created in the show voice port summary.

I tried installing the NM-2CE1T1_PRI module in 2811 voice gateway and phsically added the PVDM-32 module still the voice-port 1/0:15 was not created.

Does the voice-port 1/0:15 rely on the service-provider signaling to be created because in my attached config the E1 is clearly up communicating with CSU/DSU at layer 2 Q921 signaling.

Please help guys. Thanks for your support I really appreciate it.

Best regards,

Nick mentioned they are installed by default. All I have done is insert the PVDM into the chasis and entered the command dspfarm under voice-card 0 that still didnt work. Any suggestions.
