I think I didn't explain well.

What I mean is an E1, using CAS signaling with the protocol Line-side. This is a configuration used by a client using an Avaya system connect to an IVR, both equipments use this protocol. The customer want to replace the Avaya equipment with an Cisco gateway.

Is that E1 R2 ? which country is that? However, the answer is yes.

The Country is Costa Rica.

The configuration is against an IVR system and the manufactured just accept line-side protocol.

The line-side protocol just run in a E1 R2?, this is something I don't understand yet.

There is some documentation where I can read something?

E1 R2 should be configured the same on both sides, and this will work. Just ensure that one side is clock source line, and one is clock source internal.

If they have an E1 CAS circuit, it is more than likely an E1 R2 circuit.

You would need to find out the Line Signaling in use (maybe this is what you're referring to as Line-side), and the Interregister Signaling in use.

The Line will be analog, digital, or pulse and the interregister will be compelled, non-compelled, or semi-compelled.

There are country defaults you can try, for example:

controller E1 0/1/0

ds0-group 1 timeslots 1-31 type r2-digital r2-non-compelled

cas-custom 1

Hola, E1 R2 doesn't have a line side, being it essentially a trunk protocol.

So, connect your PBX using a crossed T1/E1 cable (NOT crossed ethernet), configure router for what the PBX is expecting, and you should be done.

Did you make these work. We are currently trying to make this configuration (Lineside) with a Gw 2921 (IOS 15.1) and Avaya S8700.

Actually it is Working this configuration with Aspect CSS and is required to achieve the same with Gw 2912.
